West Commerce

West Commerce project was conducted for the City of San Antonio. The project focused on creating a gateway to the West Side of San Antonio from the downtown area. The challenge of the project was to design a gateway at two levels: one at the vehicular upper level and the other at the pedestrian scale underneath the bridge. At the upper level, pedestrian and bike paths were created alongside the vehicular lanes, and a viewing point was designed at the peak of the bridge for unobscured views of downtown. At the top of the bridge, vertical circulation was designed to connect to the pedestrian level where program infused activities such as a mariachi stage, farmer market stands, and food trucks where considered to create a node of activity for the community to partake in.
